Coding Training using the MITI 4.2.1
2.5 day training (2 day instruction/practice including an additional optional half day of guided experiential practice coding MI conversations)
The MITI is a behavioural coding system that provides objective feedback on a practitioner’s skill sets in Motivational interviewing. It provides a means of providing structured, formal feedback about ways to improve a practitioner’s practice of Motivational Interviewing.
In this 15- hour instructor led workshop participants will
- Be introduced and gain an understanding of the Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity 4.2.1
- Gain familiarity and understanding of the two components of the MITI: the global scores and the behaviour counts
- Gain experiential practice coding recorded MI conversations
- Be introduced to strategies for using the MITI for giving feedback to practitioners to improve their MI practice
Participants will learn to code MI conversations through individual and group practice by utilizing transcripts and audio recordings.

Prerequisite for this workshop: It is recommended that participants have a sound understanding and experience in Motivational Interviewing from the 3rd edition of MI 3.
